Rendered facades crack because the substrate behind them moves, because the original mix was too strong, or because water has been tracking in behind a sill or a parapet. Painting a live crack is wasted money, so cracks are opened up, cleaned out and filled properly, and drummy sections that have lost their bond are cut back and re-rendered to match the surrounding texture.
Where a facade has salt damp or persistent staining, that gets identified before any coating goes on, because a topcoat over an active moisture problem will blister within a year.

Can you repair rotten weatherboards rather than replacing the whole wall?
Almost always, yes. Rot usually concentrates at board ends, around windows and low down near the ground where splashback keeps the timber damp. We cut out and splice in new lengths of matching profile, prime the bare timber immediately, and blend the repair into the surrounding boards so it disappears under the topcoats.
Why does my render keep cracking after it is painted?
Because the crack is still moving. A standard topcoat has almost no ability to bridge movement, so it splits again along the same line. The fix is to open the crack out, fill it with a flexible compound that stays elastic, and then use a high-build or membrane coating over the area rather than a straight acrylic.
How do I know if my render is drummy?
Tapping across the facade is the simplest test. Sound render rings solid, and render that has lost its bond sounds hollow. Those hollow areas have to come off and be re-rendered, because any coating applied over them will come away when the render eventually lets go.
Do you match existing render texture?
Yes. Patched areas are floated to match the surrounding finish before painting, whether that is a sand float, a fine trowel finish or a coarser bagged look. On a period facade an obvious patch is as bad as the crack it replaced.
